Port Colborne Harbour Railway

On your Erie Lackawanna page, you have Erie S-1 #308 marked down as being scrapped. It is in fact, alive and well, and operating here in Canada, I have run it many times. It serves as a switcher for Trillium Railway Company's Port Colborne Harbour Railway. It is currently stored in MERRITON (as you have a picture of the station before it burned a few years ago. That is the correct spelling. Although 308 is running, it is fairly gutless, having only 660hp, it can pull about 3 cars up Merriton Hill, which runs alongside the Welland Canal. Here is the history of 308

308 Alco ser#74963 blt 11/1946 S-1 ex-Case Canada Inc. No # 1997
exx-Case International No # 20
exxx-Erie Lackawanna 308, 12/67
Erie 308, 1960

Case is in Hamilton Ontario. #309 is still in existence as well, and is in the location you noted, although it is now used solely for parts.

Prairie Central

A doomed attempt to run the former Pennsy Secondary, from Decatur to Paris, Illinois, was the Prairie Trunk, which took over after the failure of the Wabash Valley, from June 1981 to May, 1984, For a few years the power was stored on the Pennsy side of the yard next to the ICG in Decatur, Illinois, before all locomotives were scrapped to pay the debts of the railroad. Summer 1986. - Kam Miller Comment

Prairie Central, Paris, Illinois 6-9-85. Paris was the junction of the Decatur-Paris and Paris-Lawrenceville, IL lines. By this time operation was over. This railroad owed money all over the country. While traveling to New York, the Livonia, Avon & Lakeville General Manager complained of money owed by this line to his railroad.
