Akron, Canton & Youngstown (ACY)

The ACY started on the east side of Akron and went west to Delphos OH where it connected with the NKP. It never got to Canton or Youngstown. The ACY was part of the N&W and is now part of the Wheeling & Lake Erie The road used mostly FM power until it was purchased by the N&W.

I am a former employee of the Delray Connecting. They referred to the #64 as their "Big Engine," as all of their other diesels at that time were ALCO S-1's. When the DCRR stopped hauling limestone from The Solvay Process Company's Sibley Quarry at Trenton, Michigan to the Semet-Solvay plant located in the Delray area of Detroit, Michigan in 1952 or 1953, it was decided that they no longer needed this "higher-horsepower" unit, so it was sold to the AC&Y on April 30, 1962. - Chuck Geletzke
